Our Health Data: How Is It Used?

Do you know what happens to your health and social care data, including how it is used safely? Many patients, service users and members of the public want to know more about how their information is used securely and how it helps improve health and social care services.

The HSC Data Institute is hosting a free event for patients, service users, and members of the public to explain how health and social care data is used across Northern Ireland. We particularly welcome those with experience of contributing to PPI as a participant. However, you do not need any knowledge or experience of data, research or healthcare to take part.

The event will provide an opportunity to learn how data supports better services, informs research and delivers benefits for patients and the wider public.

There will be open discussions about the use of health data, giving attendees the chance to ask questions, share their views and help shape future conversations about data use. Whether you are interested in health and social care services, research, or simply want to understand more about what happens to your information, everyone is welcome.

The event will take place on 30 September 2026 at the Assembly Buildings Conference Centre (formerly The Spires), Belfast city centre. Registration opens at 9.30am, with the event running from 10am to 3pm.

Attendance is free and includes welcome refreshments and a hot lunch. Places are limited and will be allocated on a first come, first served basis.
