The 2023 RCN Northern Ireland Nurse of the Year Awards have been launched. Beginning in 1997, these awards recognise and reward excellence in the nursing profession, and this will be the 25th annual ceremony.
RCN Northern Ireland Director Rita Devlin said: “Our Nurse of the Year Awards returned last year after a two-year gap. Nursing has continued to face multiple challenges over the past year, but nursing staff continue to work hard to provide a high level of care to patients and play a leading role in developing health services. Health care provision is undergoing continuous change and it is crucial that we show our appreciation and recognise and reward excellence in nursing. The awards are also an important opportunity for the public to show how much they value the care they receive. Any member of the public can nominate a nurse or health care assistant they feel has made a special contribution to their care, or to the care of a friend or family member, for the Patient’s Choice Award. I would encourage all health care staff to look at the categories and consider nominating a colleague.”
Online nomination forms and a full list of all the various award categories are available via the RCN website.
The Patient’s Choice Award 2023 is sponsored by PCC . The Patient’s Choice Award is open to all registered nurses, midwives and health care assistants working in all health care settings in Northern Ireland. Patients, clients or relatives can nominate someone whom they believe has made a difference and has gone that extra bit further to ensure that the patient or client has received the highest standards of care. More information can be found here.
The closing date for the receipt of completed entries is Friday 24 March 2023 and the awards ceremony will take place on Thursday 15 June 2023 at the Culloden Hotel in Holywood.
