Welcoming our eight new Council Members

The Department of Health has announced the appointment of eight new Council Members; Gary McMichael, Briege Arthurs, Tom Sullivan, Emma O’Neill, Rhoda Walker, Paula Bradley, Julie Aiken and Cadogan Enright to the Patient & Client Council (PCC).

Speaking about the appointments, Chair of the PCC, Ruth Sutherland said: “I am delighted to welcome the new appointments to the Patient and Client Council. They bring with them a wealth of knowledge, skills and lived experience, from across the community and voluntary sector, local government and trade unions. They draw from a good geographic spread and will bring diversity of thought to our work.

“It is an exciting time to join the PCC, working to deliver on a new statement of strategic intent. In challenging times, our vision for a Health and Social Care Service actively shaped by the needs and experiences of patients, clients, carers and communities, has never been more vital.

“I would like to pay tribute to our existing board members, a small group of committed people, who have stepped up and worked together so effectively, to steer the transformational change we have begun, they will also be delighted to welcome new members”.

Chief Executive of the PCC, Meadhbha Monaghan, also welcomed the appointments, saying: “Along with my executive team, I welcome our new Council members and look forward to working with them to bring the public’s voice to bear on Health and Social Care in Northern Ireland”.

“The PCC works to ensure the public’s views and experiences are heard, listened to and influence the delivery of Health and Social Care. Our Council members play an important role, providing strategic direction, good governance, and assurance that we are delivering on our objectives.

“The breadth of experience, knowledge and skills that our new Council members will bring is very exciting. A great addition to the organisation, they will complement our existing team and add additional impetus as we continue to develop as an organisation”.
