Exceptional opportunity to help shape health and social care services
*Recruitment has now now closed*
The Department of Health is seeking to appoint 4 x Non-Executive Members to the Patient and Client Council (PCC). (3x Local Government Representatives and 1x Non-Executive Member, Lay)
The Non-Executive Member position offers an exceptional opportunity for applicants to play a key role in helping to shape and drive the strategic vision of the PCC, providing good governance and assurance that the organisation is fulfilling its legislative mandate within allocated resources.
Speaking about the opportunity, Ruth Sutherland CBE, Chair of the PCC said: “The Patient and Client Council has an independent remit to represent the best interests of the public in Health and Social Care in Northern Ireland and we are tasked with providing assurance to the Minister for Health in this regard.
“This is an organisation with a strong remit and significant potential. We have a vision of a Health and Social Care Service, which is actively shaped by the needs and experiences of the public. Our purpose is to ensure the public’s voice and experiences are heard and listened to when it comes to Health and Social Care Services.
“PCC works with the public when things go wrong with their care, providing independent and trusted support through our advocacy and engagement platforms. We are tasked with representing the interests of the public, and if we think the voices of patients and service users are being ignored, we will speak up.
“As a Non-Departmental Public Body which acts independently, we work with patients and the public to help them make meaningful and positive change to health and social care services. To do this we connect with multiple stakeholders across all sectors of Government, Health and Social Care and Civil Society - bringing the voice and experience of patients to bear.
“We would like the Patient Client Council to reflect the public which uses the health and social care services and we encourage all interested parties from a wide range of backgrounds to apply through the Department of Health’s Public Appointments Unit. The PCC particularly encourages those with experience in the areas of public health, finance, communications, diversity, policy development and action research.
“Health and Social Care is facing challenging times and change is hard, but I do know that change is possible and worth working for. If you have passion, drive and commitment for public service we can’t wait to hear from you”.
