Welcoming our four new Council Members

The Department of Health has announced the appointment of four new Council Members; Gael Gildernew, Sarah Duffy, Charlene Brooks and Philip Anderson to the Patient & Client Council (PCC).

Speaking about the appointments, Ruth Sutherland CBE, Chair of the PCC, said: “I am pleased to welcome the new appointments to the Patient and Client Council. Our new Council Members bring with them a wealth of experience and knowledge to our Council.

“PCC’s Council has been constituted to reflect the public it serves. We will be seeking to develop the role of our Council in representing the interests of the public, ensuring their voice is heard and engaging at a strategic level across health and social care (HSC) to fulfil our assurance role for the Minster and the Department of Health.”

Meadhbha Monaghan, Chief Executive of the PCC, also welcomed the appointments, saying: “This is a challenging time for the HSC system and the public alike, as we are in a period of significant pressure and prolonged financial constraint. PCC believes that to meet these challenges there needs to be new relationship based on partnership between the HSC system and the public it serves.

“In this regard, it is also an exciting time to join our Council as we seek to maximise our potential, fulfil our statutory functions and pursue the recommendations from our People to Partners Report.

“I am delighted to welcome our new members and look forward to working with them. Their skills, knowledge and experience will be a great addition to the organisation as we continue to develop.”
