PCC provide oral evidence to Health Committee

The PCC were called to provide oral evidence to the Health Committee yesterday, Thursday 29 January 2026, following PCC’s Submission to the Committee on the Adult Protection Bill in October 2025.

Our submission and oral evidence sought to address the challenges and represent the issues of key importance to the PCC, based on our direct experience of listening to, and working with, the public in the context of the statutory role PCC holds within the Health and Social Care system and the interests of the public we represent.

Background information:
  • The Adult Protection Bill was formally introduced by the Minister of Health on Tuesday 17 June 2025.
  • PCC Adult Protection Engagement Platform has been engaging with the Department of Health regarding the Bill.
  • The Bill completed its Second Stage on Monday 30 June 2025 and is now referred to the Committee for Health for the Committee Stage of the Bill.
  • As part of the Committee Stage, the Committee will receive oral evidence on the objectives, proposals and potential consequences of the Bill.
