PCC publish second Advocacy Casebook

Following the recent and timely publication of our Thought Paper: Advocacy: A Call to Action, the Patient and Client Council (PCC) are publishing our second annual Advocacy Casebook.

The Casebook showcases the work of our PCC Support Service and demonstrates the range of issues we supported in 2026. It highlights how independent, professional advocacy can positively impact on people’s lives; helping them to have their voice heard, uphold their rights and address inequalities.

It demonstrates the different forms of advocacy, including empowerment and representative advocacy, in situations that are often emotionally challenging for both those receiving support and the staff involved.

Meadhbha Monaghan, PCC Chief Executive said:

“It is important that we continue to promote the importance of having an independent advocacy service for individuals that have issues in health and social care in Northern Ireland. Independent Advocacy can play a central role in developing restorative approaches and is crucial in ensuring that the public’s voice is heard.”
