Care of Older People Engagement Platform

PCC are involved in partnership work with a number of other stakeholder organisations in matters concerning the care of older people.

The Care of Older People Engagement Platform has evolved from a Care Homes Engagement Platform that existed throughout the pandemic, where the focus centred on visitation pathways.

The Care of Older People Engagement Platform recruited new members in Winter 2023, to act as a reference group for any ongoing partnership and engagement work within the Department of Health, SPPG, PHA, RQIA or indeed the Trusts that will impact on older people.

Key highlights

  • Influencing the Visiting Guidance Pathway
  • Informing guidance and implementation of Care Partners
  • Advocating on issues preventing access to care homes, quality treatment and care and the wellbeing of residents.
  • Collaborated with PHA on Visiting with Care - Snapshot survey
  • Presented at NICON

The Platform has engaged on:

  • Regional Falls in Care Homes Project
  • Pre-Admission Assessment and Rockwood Frailty Model
  • Deterioration Assessments – Restore 2 and Restore 2 Mini
  • Regional Urinary Catheter Care Pathway

Your voice matters – help shape the future of care for older people!

October is Positive Ageing Month, and PCC are delighted to invite YOU to join our Care of Older People Engagement Platform. Our aim is to bring together older people, carers, and representatives from voluntary and community organisations to ensure lived experience is central to shaping decisions about care for older people in Northern Ireland.

Commitment

  • Attend Engagement Platform meetings (Approx. every 6 -8 weeks)
  • Share your insights, experiences, and perspectives
  • Represent the views of older people, carers, and communities

Members will have the opportunity to:

  • Share lived experiences
  • Influence decisions, policies, and services
