PCC present the Patient's Choice Award at RCN NI Nurse of the Year Awards 2024

 

PCC Colleagues were delighted to attend the Royal College of Nursing, Northern Ireland Nurse of the Year Awards on the 13th June 2024 at the Culloden Hotel, Cultra to present the Patient's Choice Award.

The awards provide an opportunity to highlight excellence within nursing and the contribution that nursing staff make to the health and well-being of the people of NI and acknowledge all aspects of Nursing from clinical practice, education, research, student nursing and Health Care Assistants.

The PCC were directly involved in the selection of the Patient’s Choice Award, which is sponsored by Patient Client and Council and is based upon nominations directly received from patients and recognises nursing staff who have gone that extra mile to enhance care.

Katherine McElroy Principal Practitioner for Advocacy presented the awards to the winner and runners up for the category. The dedication of all the nominees left the selection panel’s decision extremely difficult and highlighted the esteem the patients who made the nominations held the nurses in question.

Huge congratulations to District Nurse Catherine Shannon from the Belfast Health and Social Care Trust based at the Arches Wellbeing and Treatment Center who was awarded the RCN NI Patient’s Choice Nurse of the Year 2024.

Her nominator said: “Catherine really stands out as going above and beyond. She has patience, such a good nature and makes your day brighter.” Many congratulations to Catherine.

Well done to RCN NI Patient’s Choice Nurse of the Year 2024 joint runners up; Joan Newberry of the South Eastern Health & Social Care Trust who is the School Nurse for Friends School in Lisburn and Macmillan Colorectal Specialist Nurse Fiona Keegan of the Southern Health and Social Care Trust Craigavon Area Hospital.

Your dedication to the nursing profession is truly inspiring.
