PCC at NICON
This week, representatives from our engagement platforms, membership as well as staff and council members attended the Northern Ireland Confederation for Health and Social Care Conference (NICON24).
The conference theme was ‘Grasping the Nettle’ – “Seeking to address the immense pressures in the system, attendees used their time together to explore what they can do, working creatively and collaboratively to agree which nettles to grasp to best support progress.”
At the conference;
- We facilitated a panel session on Day 1, titled “The Power of Participation – Embracing the Public as Assets.” The session set out the evidence and some examples of emerging good practice. We were delighted that the session attracted a large audience and that great conversations about the power of participation and the role the public can play took place.
- We had an information stand available over the two days were staff provided information about or services and networked with attendees
- Our Chair, Ruth Sutherland CBE, put the following question, which we will continue to purse, to Minister Nesbitt after his address to conference: "Given the imperative for change and the financial constraints, will your plan include when and how we will effectively engage the public in the key challenges we face?"
- Our Chief Executive, Meadhbha was as a panel member in the Main Auditorium for the discussion; ‘Grasping the Nettle | Building a Collective Leadership Approach’
It was a particularly busy few days of networking, sharing ideas, reflecting and learning from staff across the health and care system, as well as the voluntary and community sector. We would like to thank our Panel and everyone who engaged with the PCC at the conference.
